Division 2. TERTIARY ROAD MAINTENANCE |
§ 26-46. Definitions.
The following words, terms and phrases, when used in this division, shall have the meanings ascribed to them in this section, except where the context clearly indicates a different meaning:
Public roadway right-of-way means land acquired by the county by purchase, by dedication from landowners, by roadway easements granted by landowners, or by prescriptive rights for use as public roadways.
Roadway design standards means current minimum standards for roadway design pursuant to the county subdivision and road maintenance regulations.
Routine roadway maintenance means roads accepted for maintenance and public roadways currently being maintained by the county on a regular basis prior to July 1, 1992, or public roadways added to the county routine roadway maintenance system by the county board of supervisors after July 1, 1992.
Tertiary hillside standard means roadway, located in mountainous or hilly terrain as determined by the public works department, that does not meet the above roadway design standards, but has 30 foot minimum width right-of-way; has been rough graded to a 20 foot wide travel surface, including shoulders; the roadway can be traveled safely by two wheel drive subcompact car; all brush and trees are removed; and large boulders and rocks (three inches and larger) are removed.
Tertiary roadway maintenance means public roadway maintenance that consists only of roadway surface smoothing and minor repairs, which will normally occur only after all other roadway maintenance operations in the county's routine roadway maintenance system is completed.
Tertiary standards means roadway that does not meet the above roadway design standards, but has 30 foot minimum width right-of-way; has been rough graded to a 24 feet wide travel surface, with two foot wide shoulders; the roadway can be traveled safely by a two wheel drive subcompact car; all brush and trees are removed; and large boulders and rocks (three inches and larger) are removed.
