§ 10-112. Definitions.

  • The following words, terms and phrases, when used in this division, shall have the meanings ascribed to them in this section, except where the context clearly indicates a different meaning:

    Dwelling unit means any suite, room, cottage, bedroom, or other unit established or maintained by a transient dwelling establishment for temporary occupancy.

    Plumbing or plumbing system means and includes the water supply distributing pipes; the fixtures and fixture traps; the soil, waste, and vent pipes; and the building drains with their devices, appurtenances and connections, either within or adjacent to the transient dwelling establishment.

    Temporary basis means less than 30 consecutive days.

    Transient means any member of the public who occupies a dwelling unit on a temporary basis in a transient dwelling establishment as defined in this section.

    Transient dwelling establishment means and includes any place where sleeping accommodations are available to transients or tourists on a temporary basis, such as a hotel, motel, motor hotel, tourist court, tourist camp, roominghouse, boardinghouse, inn, and similar facilities by whatever name called, consisting of two or more dwelling units; provided, however, that the term "transient dwelling establishment" shall not be construed to include apartments, clubs, boardinghouses, roominghouses, and similar facilities where occupancy of all dwelling units is 30 consecutive days or more.
